Discovering a new defect in windows XP and vista by Iranian researchers

Although many defect and problems have been discovered so far in windows XP but nobody has ever noticed this problem. This defect has not been repaired in Microsoft service pack three update it will shown up when you are connected to your local area network. I noticed this problem in windows while working in the internal network of our scientific institute. I was transferring data from network to my hard PC .

Of course I am not sure about how often you may encounter with this problem or how disturbing it maybe when you’re working with your windows operating system. Is however I know that if you are informed about it. You will not get surprised or confused when it happens to you . it can be simply called a lack of relationship between different network letter and path of removable storage (cool disk or flash).

What is the problem?

If you share a drive or folder on your workgroup you should enter the ip address of the source in your windows explorer in order to use it (for exam:\\192.168.1.2). Consequently folders will be shown of you can have access to the data inside the folders. Map network drive is a capability in windows by which you may see the shared data in your hard drives list. Now, you must right click on my computer icon and then click on map network drive. A window appears in which you must enter IP address and a name for the drive suppose that you have five partitions on your hard disk: a,b,c,d and e .   Now you pick up letter (F) for your network drive. After a few seconds this drive appears. So far, there was no problem in the operation .

Now connect a flash drive to your USB port an auto run window must open for your flash. At least you must be able to see the flash drive icon. But it not happens because windows has given the name (F) to your flash drive and was unable to recognize that (drive F) is the letter of network drive.

To make sure about this defect right clicks on you’re my computer icon and then click on Manage. In storage section click on disk management, to open it. Your flash drive is among your disks!!!

It has also taken a drive name. Right click on your flash drive and click on open. As you see, you have opened the network drive!

I hope Microsoft will solve this problem with a new update.
